The Garlic Jr. Saga

The Garlic Jr. saga began when Garlic Jr. escaped from the Dead Zone he had been trapped in.  He and his cronies, the Spice Boys, came looking for revenge on Goku and Gohan.  They easily took over Kami's Lookout, imprisoning Kami and Mr. Popo.   They then released Garlic's Black Water Mist, which released the evil in anyone who breathed it.  Several of the Z-senshi, including Kuririn and his girlfriend, Marron, had gathered at Kamesennin's home and all but three fell victim to the Black Water Mist.  These three were Gohan, Kuririn, and Piccolo, who was not at the gathering.  Gohan and Kuririn warded off the others until the Spice Boys arrived.  Shortly after this, Piccolo showed up.  The Spice Boys, plus the infected Z-senshi, attacked him.  Piccolo told Gohan and Kuririn to go get the Sacred Water, which will cure someone infected by the BWM.  Gohan reluctantly left, doing as Piccolo asked.  As they were leaving, Piccolo was bitten by Yamucha and infected with the BWM.  They dropped Marron off at Karin's Tower and left her in the care of Karin and Yajirobe.

When Gohan and Kuririn reached Kami's Lookout, they found Garlic Jr. waiting for them.   They prepared to attack him, but were stopped by the Spice Boys and Piccolo.   Garlic Jr. asked Gohan where Goku was, but Gohan refused to tell him.  Gohan prepared to attack Garlic Jr., but he saw that he had Kami and stopped.  Salt then attacked Gohan, almost knocking him off Kami's Lookout.  Kuririn went to defend him, but was attacked by Mustard.  Garlic Jr. then tells Salt and Mustard that they can 'play' with Gohan and Kuririn, but they can't kill them.  The Spice Boys engaged them, easily knocking them around.  Salt prepared to finish by firing a huge blast at Gohan, which Kuririn intercepted.  Salt continued to batter Kuririn until he finally collapsed.  Kuririn reassured Gohan that he'd be okay and told Gohan to stop them.   He then passed out.  Gohan, furious, powered up.  Meanwhile, Vegeta was still out in space looking for Goku.

Back on Earth, Gohan engaged Salt and Mustard.  They fired a huge blast at him, which he canceled, then retaliated with his Masenko.  They then fought for a while.   Gohan quickly destroyed them, then was attacked by Piccolo.  Piccolo was obviously stronger, and had little trouble with Gohan, who mostly only dodged the attacks.   Then, Spice and Vinegar prepared to attack Gohan.  They were stopped when Piccolo engaged Gohan again.  Gohan finally attacked Piccolo and retaliated when Piccolo attacked him.  Meanwhile, Kuririn attempted to get Kami from Garlic Jr.   He failed and Garlic Jr. began attacking him.  As he prepared to finish him, Gohan's power exploded and saved Kuririn.  Due to the force, Piccolo was knocked into the blast.  Piccolo lunged at Gohan, but Kuririn knocked him out of the way.   Piccolo grabbed him and bit him.  He then threw Kuririn away.  Gohan tried to wake Kuririn, but was attacked by Piccolo.  The two fought until the Spice Boys, Kuririn, and Garlic Jr. arrived and attacked Gohan.  Garlic told them that they could finish Gohan if they wanted.  The four attacked Gohan until he passed out, then Piccolo prepared to finish him.  Garlic stopped him, saying that he wanted to finish him.  Piccolo agreed, then grabbed the bottles containing Kami and Mr. Popo.  He threw them to Kuririn and he freed the two.  Kuririn then complimented Piccolo on his plan of faking being infected. 

Kuririn woke Gohan up.  They explained to Gohan what happened.  The three then prepared to face Garlic Jr., telling Kami to use the Sacred Water.  Garlic told them that time had run out; they would never be able to use the Water in time.  Popo told Kami that he knew a way to spread the Sacred Water more quickly, but it was dangerous...there was a chance that Kami might not survive.  Kami agreed and the two left.  Garlic tried to stop them, but they got away.  Piccolo then engaged Garlic Jr., while Kuririn fought Vinegar and Gohan fought Spice.  Gohan saved Kuririn from an attack by Vinegar, then attacked Spice.  He quickly finished the two.  Garlic told Piccolo of the Makyo Star and began  transforming.  As he did so, Spice and Vinegar revived.  Piccolo told Gohan and Kuririn to run, but they didn't get away.   Meanwhile, Kami and Popo were on their way to the 7 Air Currents to disperse the Sacred Water.

Garlic finished transforming and the Z-senshi prepared to face the remaining Spice Boys and Garlic.  Spice and Vinegar powered up and increased in size a bit.   They then attacked Gohan and Kuririn while Piccolo fought Garlic.  Vinegar nearly finished Kuririn and Gohan quickly defeated the two Spice Boys.  Garlic thought he'd finished Piccolo and turned his attention to Gohan.  Before he could attack, Garlic saw that Piccolo still lived.  The two engaged again.  Piccolo was doing well until he started to loose power; this meant that Kami had run into trouble...  He recovered and resumed his attack.  This happened several times.   Meanwhile, Kami and Popo finally reached their destination, but found more trouble waiting for them.

Garlic had nearly finished Piccolo, but Gohan intervened.  He engaged Garlic and did well.  It seemed that Garlic was finished when Gohan plowed through his stomach.   But Garlic was immortal...that wouldn't kill him.  He simply regenerated what was necessary and lunged at Gohan.  Piccolo stopped him, but faltered as Kami's injuries were reflected in himself.  Gohan and Kuririn tried to help him, but were brushed away like flies.  Kuririn then attacked Garlic.  They then engaged.   As Garlic was squeezing Kuririn's neck, Piccolo finally rose and helped him.   Unfortunately, he was still weak and Garlic soon had him at his mercy.  Gohan then intervened to aid his friends.  While he was distracted, Kuririn and Piccolo got Garlic in a tight hold and told Gohan to fire.  He didn't want to, because he would hurt his friends, but he finally did.  Unfortunately, Garlic got loose and avoided the blast.  Meanwhile, Mr. Popo was releasing the Sacred Water onto the Earth.

Garlic Jr., enraged that his plan had failed, created another Dead Zone.  Gohan quickly erected a shield around himself and his friends to keep them from being sucked into the Dead Zone.  He soon found that it wasn't easy to hold the shield as Piccolo faded.  Piccolo then told Gohan to destroy the Makyo Star because it would lessen Garlic's power.  Kuririn pointed out that Gohan could hardly hold the shield, let alone attack.  Piccolo said to release the shield and attack anyway.  Gohan refused, because his friends would be sucked into the Dead Zone.  Suddenly, Kami and Popo arrived and Piccolo's power returned.  Piccolo leaped out of the shield to save them from being sucked into the void.  He then charged Garlic, who attacked him.   Gohan still refused to drop the shield, so Kuririn also leapt out of it, joining Piccolo.  Gohan finally dropped the shield and fired at the Makyo Star, destroying it.  With his source of power gone, Garlic Jr. shriveled up and was sucked into the Dead Zone.

Gohan mourned the loss of his friends, but stopped when he found Kami and Popo, then Kuririn and Piccolo.  He passed out shortly afterward.  Peace had returned to the Earth...

Kuririn decided that he wanted to marry Marron.  He went after the Mermaid's Tear, a huge pearl, to give to her.  He brought Gohan with him.  When they find it, the see that it is guarded by many sea creatures.  They decided not to take it from them and returned to Kamesennin's island.  Later that day, Kuririn told Marron that he was "setting her free" and, as she left, she said that she would have married him.  On the way, she met some guy and ran off with him.  Upon returning to Kame House, the others were shocked when Kuririn told them what had happened.  They said that he was better off without her.  He didn't show it, but he was still upset.
